Enumerator Manual: Measuring the nexus between gender and the environment
Enumerator Manual: Measuring the nexus between gender and the environment

The Model Questionnaire on Gender and the Environment was developed to support countries in implementing national surveys to gather information on how women and men interact with the environment, including in the context of disasters, climate change, natural resource management and environmental decision making.

To further support countries with the implementation of these surveys, UN Women has developed a suite of tools, such as this Enumerator’s Manual. Other tools include Sampling Guidelines and CAPI syntax.

This Enumerator’s Manual showcases detailed instructions for the administration of the questionnaire. Implementing the survey requires enumerators to be aware of environmental-related statistical concepts, such as hazard classifications. It also requires the knowledge of key gender concepts to address respondents. This manual also includes links to related resources, for additional information on internationally agreed definitions and classifications.
