Gender data at CSW68
68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women CSW68

The 68th annual Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68), the UN’s largest annual gathering on gender equality and women’s empowerment, will take place this year from 11 - 22 March under the priority theme, “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective”. UN Women's gender data initiatives will be featured in a number of side events.

Progress on the Sustainable Development Goals: The Gender Snapshot 2023 is the latest edition in the annual series produced by UN Women and UNDESA. The report presents the latest evidence on gender equality across all 17 Goals, including prevailing trends and gaps on the road to 2030. The proposed side event will focus on presenting the latest available evidence from the report.

 

Ageism & poverty – an intergenerational exchange: girls, young women and older women

Investing in gender data is essential in the context of this year's CSW theme, which emphasizes poverty alleviation, financing, and institutional strengthening with a gender perspective. Co-hosted by Open Data Watch, PARIS21, Data2X (TBD), and UN Women, this side event will delve into financing gender data systems as a catalyst for gender equality.

The session, organized by Collaborative on Citizen Data, aims to solicit input and feedback from the diverse community of CSW68 on the Copenhagen Framework on Citizen Data and its implementation. The session will help further refine the Copenhagen Framework, broaden the outreach and partnership of the Collaborative, and increase the impact of its work.
