On December 17th, 2019, the Nepal Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) and UN Women Nepal signed the Memorandum of Understanding, a partnership agreement to officially launch the Women Count project in the country. Women Count is UN Women's gender data programme, and aims to support CBS in enhancing the availability and use of quality gender data in Nepal that will ultimately inform gender-sensitive policies and advance gender equality through sound and reliable evidence.

The Partnership Agreement in Nepal will specifically focus on mapping quality gender-sensitive indicators to monitor the Sustainable Development Goals, engendering the upcoming Census, and promoting effective user-producer dialogue on gender statistics.
