Brief Description

On the 4th of June, 2019, His Excellency (H.E) President Uhuru Kenyatta made a firm commitment to put an end to female genital mutilation (FGM) by the year 2022. The enactment of the Prohibition of FGM Act, 2011 was a key milestone in the campaign to end FGM in the country. The President reaffirmed his commitment to end FGM by 2022 on the 8th of November, 2019 at the High Level Elders Forum, at State House.The Presidential Directive to end FGM by 2022 attracted more partners and focus on the campaign against FGM. The Kenya Kwanza Government has included end FGM in Kenya agenda in its Plan under the Women Agenda by committing to enhance financial support to the Board and full implementation of the Prohibition of FGM Act, 2011 and other laws that prohibit FGM.
