Brief Description
Staff and student representatives of all higher education institutions participated in a workshop on consent convened by the Minister of State for Higher Education in October 2018. This event was followed by the development of the Framework for Consent in Higher Education Institutions: “Safe, Respectful, Supportive and Positive – Ending Sexual Violence and Harassment in Irish Higher Education Institutions”, by an Expert Advisory Group. Launched in April 2019, the framework addresses institutional culture, processes and policies, and targeted initiatives for students and staff, including direct student-facing activities that promote an understanding of consent, an education plan to support students and staff, systems for measuring the effectiveness of initiative s and accessible trauma informed services.
