The passage of Law 23/2004 regarding the Elimination of Domestic Violence was an important milestone for public awareness. In implementing the Law on the Elimination of Domestic Violence and ensuring the protection of women from violence, the Indonesian Government has established an Integrated Service Centre for the Empowerment of Women and Children in 18 provinces and 113 districts/cities in Indonesia. The policies outlined by this law are implemented at the national, regional and village levels.
