In 2021, with technical and financial support from UN Women, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics conducted its first-ever time-use survey (TUS) – a timely undertaking as the COVID-19 pandemic unraveled a care crisis. The TUS offers important insights into how gender roles shape the division of labour between women and men, and according to various demographic criteria beyond sex, such as geographical location, age, marital status, educational attainment and employment. This brief summarizes the key findings and policy implications in the report.
