The Economic Survey is published annually, presenting socioeconomic data for the previous five years. The report provides information on all sectors of the economy as defined by the Kenya Standard Industrial Classification of all Economic Activities, as well as information on other emerging areas.
The chapter on Social and Economic Inclusion focusses on gender equality, highlighting government policies aimed at providing opportunity for equal involvement of men and women in all facets of human life in Kenya. The chapter mentions many socioeconomic empowerment programmes, including the Women Enterprise Fund and the Uwezo Fund, which provide loans to women, youth, and people with disabilities, as well as the Youth Enterprise Development Fund, which provides loans to young people to start businesses.
The statistics included in the Economic Survey use globally sound and scientific techniques that are based on the fundamental principles of official statistics. They are based on a variety of sources, including the Government of Kenya's own surveys and censuses, studies conducted by other institutions, and administrative data gathered by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, County Governments, and establishments. The report is produced by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) and was supported by UN Women.
