Brief Description

Attorney General Eric Holder released the updated “National Protocol for Sexual Assault Medical Forensic Examinations, Adult/Adolescent” (SAFE Protocol, 2nd edition). The revised SAFE Protocol uses the latest information and best practices to improve the quality of services that victims receive. When followed, the Protocol also improves the quality of forensic evidence collected; enhances law enforcement's ability to collect information and file charges; and increases the likelihood of successful prosecution.
