Brief Description

Women's Rights Organizations (WROs) play a key role in the coordination and implementation of flagship programs to prevent and respond to Gender-Based Violence (GBV). From 2020 to 2024, WROs and NGOs received funding from the EU-UN Spotlight Programme, the UN Joint Programme on GBV, and the UN Joint Programme to address Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). The Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) also received government funds through the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development to implement initiatives focused on positive social norm changes and male engagement in addressing GBV.
