Brief Description

Thailand’s Fifth National Human Rights Plan (2023–2027) prioritizes the protection of human rights defenders (HRDs), including women in politics and women human rights defenders (WHRDs). The plan outlines key measures such as systematic documentation of violations against HRDs, the development and enforcement of laws to prevent Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPPs), legal protections for whistleblowers, and efforts to ratify the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance. These initiatives aim to ensure that HRDs can carry out their work in a safe and enabling environment, free from violence, intimidation, and retaliation.
