Brief Description

Thailand's Criminal Code Section 277 criminalizes sexual intercourse with a child under the age of fifteen who is not the offender’s spouse, regardless of the child's consent. Offenders are subject to imprisonment ranging from five to twenty years and fines between 100,000 and 400,000 Baht. The provision aims to protect children from all forms of sexual exploitation and abuse, with more severe penalties in cases involving incest, such as rape involving descendants, where the penalty is increased by one-third.
