Brief Description
The Criminal Code Amendment Act (No.19) B.E. 2550 (2007) expands the definition of rape to cover raping of people of all sexes, all types of sexual penetration, and criminalization of marital rape and imposes more severe penalties on offenders who engaged in all forms of rape and sexual abuses. The Act removed the previous distinction under section 276 of the Penal Code which had limited rape to sexual intercourse between a man and a woman who is not his wife, thus allowing a husband to rape his wife with impunity.
