Brief Description

In 2019, Thailand established the Coordination Center for Women and Children in the Southern Border Provinces (CCWC-SBP) to address violence and human rights violations affecting women and children, particularly in conflict-affected areas. The center serves as a coordination hub among relevant agencies to manage complaints, mobilize resources, and develop legal frameworks and protection mechanisms. It operates under seven key thematic areas, including access to justice and redress, violence prevention, peace and security, health and well-being, access to services, participation in decision-making, and gender equality. In recent years, the center has expanded its operations by providing assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting livelihood activities for women’s groups, and advocating for DNA testing services. It has also delivered training to officers stationed at observation centers for returnees, focusing on the prevention of sexual harassment and exploitation.
