Brief Description

The Government of Nigeria launched the VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN SURVEY (VACS) Report in 2015 with support from CDC, PEPFAR, UNICEF and other partners. Led by national governments with the support of the CDC as part of the Together for Girls partnership, the VACS are nationally-representaive household surveys of 13-24 year olds males and females. The VACS measure the burden of sexual, physical and emotional violence experienced in childhood, adolescence and young adulthood. VACS also measure contextual information about violent occurrences as well as risk and protective factors for victimization and perpetration, health and social consequences of violence against children and youth, knowledge and use of health services available for those who have experienced violence and barriers to assessing such services.
