In 2024, a simulation exercise was conducted in Batken region, Kyrgyzstan, to test inter-agency coordination mechanisms in response to gender-based violence scenarios. The training involved representatives from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Migration, regional and local authorities, and civil society actors. Role-playing exercises focused on GBV scenarios included participation from local activists and residents. A total of around 600 people participated, including 143 staff from territorial departments, 120 local residents, and 25 civil activists, of whom 21 were women. The exercise was part of testing the preparedness of the regional civil protection system with special attention to women and children’s vulnerabilities.
