In 2007, the Mayor of the city of Osh approved a plan for cooperation between local government agencies, institutions and organizations on educational campaigns to prevent domestic violence in the city of Osh in 2007. In November 2007, Osh regional State administration organized a round table on the topic: “Preventing violence against women in the family and in society”. The aim of this round table was to increase familiarity with the provisions of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women; to raise awareness of current legal regulations concerned with gender equality and the social and legal protection of women from violence; and to promote the new plan of action for achieving gender equality in the Kyrgyz Republic for the period 2007-2010.
