Brief Description

In 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan approved the National Strategy on Gender Equality until 2030, alongside the National Action Plan (NAP) for 2022–2024. The NAP includes five strategic pillars: enhancing women’s economic opportunities, promoting cultural policy and functional education, ensuring protection from gender-based discrimination and access to fair justice, supporting women’s political participation, and improving regulatory frameworks. The protection of women and girls from violence, including domestic and gender-based violence, is embedded throughout the NAP. The strategy also focuses on mainstreaming gender equality into broader state planning through sectoral integration, budgeting, and monitoring systems.
