Brief Description
In 2006, the National Statistical Committee conducted a “Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey” (MICS-3) with the financial and technical support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The sample size was 5,200 households, which allowed MICS-based estimates to be obtained at the national level, in urban and rural areas and by territorial administration. The survey involved the use of three types of questionnaire: one of these targeted women aged 15 to 49 living in each household. One of the questions in the survey directed at women concerned the issue of domestic violence. The survey results were published in the final report of UNICEF on monitoring the situation of children and women in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2007.
