Brief Description

Kyrgyzstan maintains statistical monitoring of crimes related to personal freedom, including trafficking in persons. In 2022, 115 such crimes were registered, and 80 cases were completed by law enforcement, including 4 cases involving women and 2 involving children. In 2023, the number of registered crimes increased to 404, with 62 cases completed, including 7 involving women and 4 involving children. In the first quarter of 2024, 102 crimes were registered, and 10 cases were sent to court. Investigations are conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in accordance with Article 159 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which governs the prosecution of crimes under Chapter 25 of the Criminal Code.
