Brief Description

Kyrgyzstan has established a comprehensive legal framework to combat trafficking in persons, particularly women and girls. This includes Article 28 of the Constitution, the Law “On the Prevention and Combatting of Trafficking in Persons” (No. 55 of 17 March 2005), and the Criminal Code, which criminalises various forms of trafficking under Chapter 25 “Crimes against Personal Freedom”. Relevant provisions include Articles 165–171, covering crimes such as trafficking in persons (Art. 166), trafficking in children (Art. 167), and forced labour (Art. 170).
