The Gender-based Violence (GBV) Helpline Unit was established in September 2023 to support victims, survivors, and witnesses of gender-based violence in Jamaica. Staffed by a Director and three Helpline Specialists (with approval for three more), the Unit provides a range of services, including psychosocial support, GBV-related information, counselling, survivor needs assessments, and safety planning. The GBV Helpline Unit also serves as an entry and referral point to the National Shelter Programme, supporting survivors at both community and national levels.
