Brief Description

The Short Stay Homes Scheme was launched in 1969 and it is meant to provide temporary accommodation, maintenance and rehabilitated services to women suddenly rendered homeless due to family discord or crime. Women who have been forced in prostitution, homeless, sexually assaulted, victims of mal-adjustment are eligible to stay in these homes. The services extended in these homes include counseling, medical care, psychiatric treatment, occupational therapy, education-cum-vocational training and recreational facilities. At present, there are 384 Short Stay Homes running in the country.
