Brief Description

India established 790 Fast Track Special Courts, including 410 exclusive courts for offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, to expedite justice in cases of rape and child sexual abuse. As of 2024, 755 courts are operational and have disposed over 253,000 cases. The scheme is being continued until 2026. Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs) were started in 2019. So far, 790 FTSCs have been approved, including 410 exclusive POCSO courts. These courts have disposed of over 253,000 cases of rape and POCSO Act offenses. The scheme continues until 2026.
