Violence against women and girls; Female genital mutilation
Year
2016
Brief Description
As part of the implementation of the joint government/United Nations system program to combat violence against women and girls (PC/VEFF), advocacy, awareness-raising and capacity-building activities were carried out in benefit of various actors. Thus, 13 meetings were held with administrative, municipal, customary and religious authorities as well as journalists in 2016. Over the same period, the knowledge and capacities of 240 customary, religious, association and administrative leaders (high commissioners, prefects, heads of secondary schools) and politicians (mayors, municipal councillors) have been strengthened through training sessions on negative gender norms, leading them to commit to education, integration society and the abandonment of female genital mutilation.
