In the framework of the European Anti-Trafficking Day (October 18), the Ministry of the Interior during the reporting period (October 2022 and October 2023) in cooperation with partner organizations and state institutions, organized the 'Month of the Fight against Trafficking in Persons'.
In the 12 regions of the country sensitization and awareness-raising activities were held for the prevention of human trafficking. The activities were intended to bring to the attention of all state and non-state structures the importance of undertaking a joint commitment in the fight against human trafficking as well as to convey messages about the dangers of trafficking to increase awareness of the public, especially vulnerable groups. Thus, based on the National Calendar which was drawn up with the proposals of state structures, national and international organizations, activities were rolled-out throughout the month of October. The activities throughout this month were mainly focused on:
forums and discussion groups with professionals students and community representatives; awareness activities/information sessions with high school and middle school students students representatives from the community from state and non-state structures psychologists social workers; regional exhibition with works of high school and middle school students; awareness meetings for the prevention of human trafficking and irregular migration with police officers state social service workers municipal social service workers education and health system workers psychologists social workers representatives from the Roma and Egyptian community representatives from business etc.; awareness marches in the districts; distribution of informative and awareness-raising materials related to the phenomenon of trafficking.
